PDM deliver Team Building for the AmeyLex Consortium (ALC)
29 July 2004

’A thoroughly enjoyable day, lots of positives no negatives, a must for future teams’. - Terry Scott, Regional Manager (ALC)

Team Building for the AmeyLex Consortium

PDM recently delivered a very successful Team Building activity day to the Fleet Survey Team from the AmeyLex Consortium (ALC). The aim was for the newly formed team to get to know each other, and more specifically to understand the benefits of team working through a physical, mentally challenging and rewarding activity day.

To meet the customer’s specific needs PDM designed a bespoke programme to produce the following outcomes:

Get to know each other in an informal context outside of the normal working environment.

  • Develop team cohesion through shared adversity.
  • Expand individual cooperation and communication skills through engaging in practical problem solving with team members.
  • Understand the benefits of team working.

To ensure the outcomes were successfully met PDM provided a series of activities that were highly participative, involving the integration of all team members through team and trust building activities.  The problem solving tasks incorporated reviews and plenary summaries and the ALC project leader, Mr Frank Gray, commented that, ’PDM have a sensible and practical approach to the improvement of team ethos’.

One of the keys to the success of the event was the fact that participants were unaware of what lay ahead of them during the day.  There were testing stages for most if not all of the team.  It prompted one of the delegates to comment that it was a, ‘very enjoyable, exciting and exhausting day!’

The course was designed to ensure that participants took part in a thoroughly enjoyable experience, but most importantly, that they were able to reflect on its outcomes prior to commencing their new project where team work will be essential to success.  One delegate summed the course up with the comment, ‘In as individuals, out as a team’ whilst another commented that, ‘my confidence working within the team has increased considerably’.
